The London Quiver appears to take the position that "there is no argument valid upon premise of inherent imposeibility. " In a driving argument along that line The Quiver rúan deduces facts and figures f rom the different authorities to prove that it is altogether probable that the story of Jonah and the whale is Dot a myth, as is now popularly supposed. That such a piscine feat as that attributed to Jonah's whale is at least possible is proved by an incident which occurred in the Mediterranean a few years ago. A British war vessel ■was sailing quietly along one day, when a sudden lurch threw a seaman overboard. A huge shark instantly arose, and those on board were horrified to see i their companion disappear down its ! throat. In a moment, before the j cious "water tiger" could right itself '. aud dive, the captain seized a gun and fired. The shot struck the creature square in theiack and was such a shock or surprise that the shark cast the man out, and he was rescued alive by his comrades. Arguing from the above incident, The Quiver tbinks it highly probable that the Jonah story is true in every particular.
