Up to last night the county board of caDvassers bad tecounted tbe votes cast a the general eleotion Nov. 8 in 14 out of the 32 voting preoincts of the connty. The preoincts so far counted are the seven wards of Ann Arbor, five wards of Ypsüanti, Aun Arbor and Northfield towüs. So far Jacob F. Sohuh has made a net gain of 23 votes, thus increasing bis majority to 48. He gained 8 votes in Aun Arbor city, ;;3 iu Ypsilanti, and 2 in Ann Arbor town. The reoonnt has shown Rome very peouliar ways of marking the ballots. Oue ballot admitted had a oross iu the circle nnder a vignette and a straight, flrm blue penoil stroke beside another cirole. Another had crosses In penoil in two ciroles and then one cross had been covered with penoil scratches. Another had a cross iu the circle aud a row of crosses up and down the ticket, none of the lattor having beeu put iu the little squares before the naiues. Great interest is manifestad in the count and iu tbe discussion of what oonstitutes distinguishing marks, and the board generally has a few iutero6ted speotators ou hand at each of its sessions. It will take at least four days more before the recount is completed. In the Lighthall-Judson contest, which was a side issue to the oue now in progress, Mr. Lighthall ooncluded to drop the matter, and on Monday relinquished all claim to tbe oföoe of sheriff.
