Bisbop Hall, of Vennont, wbo is to deliver tbe Baldwin lectuïes this year, is an Engishruan by birtb. He began his ministry as amember of the Society of St. John the Evangelist, an order of clergymen, who are ruore coniruonly called the Cowley Fathers. While still a niember of the ordtr he was detalied for work in Boston, where he met with remarkabla suocess. Althongh his society is known for its extremie high ehurch principies, he showed his liberality and raauly breadtb of view, by supporting, in spite of strong opposition, the election of the late Phillips Brooks to the bishoprio. Eecalled to England, much against tbe wishes of those amung whom he had been working, he returned sbortly to take the office of bishop of Vermont. Since his elevation to that position he has wou the respect aud affection of the wbole state. It is said that in xnany of the towns, when tbe bishop ruakes his visitatiou, the other chnrches close their doors, and ministers and congregations go to hear him. Bishop Hall is very moch in demand for the sort of work he will do in Ann Arbor, and it is to be regarded as a very fortúnate circumstance tbat the Hobart Guild has secnied so able a leoturer. There are few wbo combine such mental and spiritual qualities. The bishop will deliver his first leoture Sunday evening, at St. Andrew's church. The Ann Arbor railroad ís layiug steel on tbe Betsie River & Arcadia taihoad, whicb will complete the road froiu Arcadia to Copeinish, openiug a uew country th;U has mnc timber.
