Muncie, Ind., Nov. 17.- After being out twelve hours the jury returned a verdict Tuesday, and the judge sentenced Francis J. Gallagher ■ to two years in prison for murdering James Dugan, April 26. At the same time Gallagher also murdered James Reid, the work being done with a small penknife. He was tried in June for murdering Reid and sentenced to tweruy-one years in prison. A new trial was granted and thistime he was tried for murdering Dugan. It is claimed the physicians are to blame for his death, as the knife blade which was ín Dugan's brain was not found for three days. Dugan died flve weeks later, and the defense proved by several physieians that he would not have died had the blade been removed when flrst examined. The prosecution will attempt to have a second trial for murdering Reid, but it is probable the court will rule out the charge. Gallagher is aged 21, is of fine appearance, and well known. Reid and Dugan were also young men.
