H. White of No. 25 Haití, y Place, hasbeen an instructor in penmauship in different business colleges for tho past fourteen years. He says : "Last, ( ctober I was suddenly taken ill. 'I cons'ulted a physician, who said the pain woa from 'gravel' stones ; gradually grew yorse; the pain was in my back and side My back swelled up in a great rige and I imally grew so .bad that I was taken to bed as helpless as a child. I passed blood, and when the pain was at its worst I was hke one crazy. The doctor injected morphme to give me relief, but fiirther than that he said he was powerless and nothing would do me any good but a surgical operation. I believe my flesh was hterally cooked in the attempts to relieve my agony, everything was used, mustard piasters, turpentine, hot clotlis and all such things.
