After a lingering illness of 14 months dnration, Mrs. John M. Sraoots died at the family residence on Forest ave., Sunday morning, aged 47 years. Mis iƔmoots was a native of New York, where she was bom in 1849. In 1858 sbe came to this state, and soine years after, wbile residing in Pontiac, was married to Mr Smoots. Fiom there they moved to Detroit, moving to tbis city in 1887, where they have resided ever since. Mrs. Smoots was a member of the Churcb of Christ and an earnest werker in the Ladies Aid Society and mission work of the churcb. Her Jinsband and two sons survive her. Her remains were taken to Detroit Monday for interment The fnneral services were held Tuesday afternoon, at the residence of her sister, Mrs Nickels, 127 Twentythird st, Detroit, Rev. C. B. Nowman, pastor of the Central Cbristian church, of Detroit, preachiug the sermoD.
