The Clenadis Society Won The Debate
The joint debate at the high school Friday evening between the Clendais and Arena debating societies was quite a profitable aft'air. The subject debated was ''Resolved, that a limitad monarchy is the best form of government," affirmative, W. J. Autoliff, Misses Taylor, JMcLaughlin ; negative, Mr. Lee, Misa Lyons, J. Hillman. Miss VVhedon and Messrs. Kelly and Euglehart aoted as judges and awarded tbe decisiĆ³n to the affirmative by two points, whioh shows that the sides were pretty evenly matched. J. B. flillman received the highest rnarkiug among the debaters. The reruainder of tbe program: Music, Miss Wise; oration, Goff; recitatiou, Miss Mosely; racket, HimesMorso; oh at, Miss Bowan ; extemporaneons speech, Goff, was also greatly enjoyad. The rueetiug as a whole was so snocessfnl that another will donbtless be given before long..
