The Clenadis Society Won The Debate

The joint debate at the high school Friday evening between the Clendais and Arena debating societies was quite a profitable aft'air. The subject debated was ''Resolved, that a limitad monarchy is the best form of government," affirmative, W. J. Autoliff, Misses Taylor, JMcLaughlin ; negative, Mr. Lee, Misa Lyons, J. Hillman. Miss VVhedon and Messrs. Kelly and Euglehart aoted as judges and awarded tbe decisión to the affirmative by two points, whioh shows that the sides were pretty evenly matched. J. B. flillman received the highest rnarkiug among the debaters. The reruainder of tbe program: Music, Miss Wise; oration, Goff; recitatiou, Miss Mosely; racket, HimesMorso; oh at, Miss Bowan ; extemporaneons speech, Goff, was also greatly enjoyad. The rueetiug as a whole was so snocessfnl that another will donbtless be given before long..
