The lollowmg ia trom the Scientific American: It is snggested that on Jannary 1, 1900, a new división of the year into 13 inonths be instituted. If snch a división were made, the first 12 montbs would have 28 days or four weeks eacb and the new mouth 29 daye, to make 365, and 30 in leap years. After a few days there wonld be no need to refer to calendara, as the aame day of the week woold have the same date throngh the year. If Jannary lat were, aay Monday, every Monday wonld be the lst, 8th, 15tb and 22d; every Tuesday the 2d, 9th, 16th and 23d, and so on tbrongh the year. The changes of the moon wonld be on about the same dates througb the year, and many oalcnlations, like interest, dates óf matnring notes, Easter and many other important dates wonld be simplfiied. Althongh the present generation wonld have to flguie uew dates for birtbdays, and all legal nolidays except New Year woold be on different dates, yet the gain woi ld be mnre than the loss, as that would be permanent and the objectiona trifling.
