Mr. Henry Rose, Senator Burrows' lieuten'int, has prepared a table showing tbe Michigan people iu tbe diplomatic and consular service and a few other espeoially desirable offices. Tbe list is headed by Ainbassador CJhl, with a salary of #17,500 and tvvo seotetaries o( embassy salarisd at $2,625 aud $2,000 in his gift. Next ooiues Miuister Quinby, with an honorarium of $7,500. Minister Sill, at the Korea.n capital, follows, with $7,500. Michigan's consular represRntatives are as follows: Allen B. Morse, oousul at Glasgow, $3,000; Frauk A. Dean, oonsul at Naples, $1,500; Thomas O'Hara, consul at tíau .luán Del Norte, Nicaragua, $2,000; John PaTton, consul at Arnherstburg, Ont, $i,500 aud fees; Arthur M. Herbert Perkins, agent at Bluefields, Nicaragua, fees; George B. Killmaster, commercial ageni ;it Port Rowau, Ont., fees; aud Chas. McCall, oommercial agent at Sault Sto. Marie, fees. Otber Michigan office bolders in good places are: Private Secretaiy Thurber, $5,000; Carlos E. Dexter, chief doorkeeper of Whtie House, $1,800; Gen. W. W. Duffield, superintendent of tho coast and geodetic survey, $6,000. Irnpatient office-seekers wbo are after the consular appoiuttnents above euumerated should uot forget two things; First, that all places with salaries rangiag from $1,500 to $2,500, both inclusive, are under the proteotion of the civil service; and second, that by a recent order notarial fees which used to be an euiolument worth as ruuch, or more, than a consul's salary in auy post in Great Britain, are no longer oollected. The Michigan senators, however, have uo doubt that tbere will be found plenty of "life-loug" republicans vh o will be glad to get any of these jobs, or "somethiug equally as tood."
