The means by wbich a fly can creep np a pane of glass or walk on a ceiling havo long been the snbject of contention amoug scientists, some claiming that the fly foot is a sucker, others that adhesion is effected by the aid of a viscous fluid exuding trom the foot, and others again that the fly walks by means oí a ailiary apparatus which auswors the purpose of a hook.
