The oomruittee of the conimon conucil appoiuted to ' iuvestigate the rates cbarged tbe to consumera by the Aun, Arbor Water Oo. , held a meeting in tbe city olerk's offiue od Weduekday Doun aud listeued to the complaiuts of about 20 people, all of whoin believed that tbe rates charged them ware excessive. Dr. A. K. Hale, reoeiver of the Water Co., was preseut aud explaiued away several points where iriookerl as if tbe rate was too high, but iu others it was couoeded that the rate should be lower. It is a common complaint, probably not very loadly expressed, bat still very deeply feit, by the ruajority of water oousurners, that the rate cbarged is too high. Many of these uo doubt, have some cause for complaint, aDd there are probably a greater nnmber wlio have uo just canse for complaint at all.
