A pathetic scène ooourred in the probate office Wednesday afternoon wbicn had fcr its object the parting of a faniily of seven young children fiotn their parents, on account of the apparent inability of the Jatter to provide for the wants of the faiuily without the children begging. Marshal Petersnn had !aid a complaint againt George Morton, who lives back of the Ferguson cart factory, for neglecting to support his family. The cornplaint was brought uuder the statote which prohibits children begging ou the streets and rnakas them liable to be sent to the state pnblic school at Coldwater. The wife is a bard woiking woman, who does all she possibly oan to provide her family of seven children with tbe necessaries of life. The hnsband is either sickly or lazy and does little but hunt and flsh. Tbe oldest cbild is 13 years old and the yoongest is seven months. The mother appeared in conrt with her children, the father having remained at home to take care of the baby. The hearing of the complaint was before a jury oonsisting of J. J. Goodyear, Thos. J. Keech, John Lindenechmitt, H. M. Woods, L. Gruner and Wrn. H. Rehfuss. Several ladies were presant as witnesses and testified as to the childreu begging at their doors. The charge was clearly proven and the jury retnrned a verdíot of guilty, at the name time leaving it with .Tudgo Newkirk to do what he thougbt best in the matter. The pathetic part of the scène came when it was evident that the children would have to go to Coldwater. The mother begged and pleaded to have them remain with her and she would work harder than ever to keep thera off the stieet the ohildren clung to their parent sobbiDg and crying, while most oí the ladies and some of the men had hard work to keep back the tears. Judge Newkirk temporarily gnspeuded the order sending the children away iü order to give the parents a chance to support the childreu and the family returned home where the mother will now redouble her efforts to keep the wolf from the door.
