Wíth regard to the rumor that Senator Sherman reconsidered hls acceptance of the state portfolio in case Mr. Hanna '.vaa not appointed to succeed hiTi, hé expressed hiniself mosi emphatically: "Mr. Sherman," said he, "wa.it tendered the premiership by Mr. McKlnley on his own merits. He accepted and he would have no right now to repudtatp his acví-ptance because of dissatisfaction with matters growlng out of his retirement from the senate and moreover, T can say most positive]y that he has no intentii'm of reconsidering his action."
