Mrs. Phcebe Hearst of California has giveu $200, 0Ü0 to fouud a rnining school in connection with the state uuiversity at Berkcley as a memorial to her husband. She gives largely to the free kindergarteus, supports severa! college settlements and coutribated $],000 to the recent campaign for the woman snffrage amendment. She has also giveu $200,000 to establish a fine gymnasium for girJs at the state university. Shesaid to Miss Anthony, "lam doing all this to make girls fit to vote."
