HaskWl. nhicli was flred upon by a Spanish man-of-war on the nigrht of Feb. 7 off the San Juan river, Cuba. arrived tiere Tuesday with a full cargo of sügar. Captain Richardson said that the Hring: took place about 10 o'clock at night, and as the darkness preventetl the crew from seeing a vessel. it was supposed that there was a battle on shore. He saw the flashes and heard the reports and a shot whistled close to the vessel. It was some time before he was alile to discer'n the huil of a man-of-war whicli appi'oached rapidly, without lights. Captain Riuhardson faid the gunboat carne within a few hundred feet oL the schooner and then steamed away towards shore without even hailing.
