The March term of the circoit court was opened Monday morniug wit!) 78 oases on the docket. ïbe day wás spent ia th8 hearing of mct'ons. The jury was in atteudance Tuesday aud the actual business commeuced theu. j Tbe case of the Pcople vs. Carinar. McKinstry, for ernbezzlement, bad to be again continued. This time on account of the absence of Jobn R. Miner, the examiner of the books in the case, who is in California. The other cases contiuued weie those against Gustave Brehm, for violation of liquor law, against Jobn O'Grady, for tape, against Timothy Lane, for assault aud battery, and against Fanny Schemerhorn, for assault and battery, Ann Arbor Brewing Co. vs Ann Arbor R. R. Co. Chauncey Van Pleet, Alex Parr and Chauncey Gulick, oharged with laraeuy, plead guilty and were released ou payinent of costs amonuting to $96; tbe case against Riley Stafford, charged with rape, was nolle piossed, and George Waidelicb, charged witb violatiou of liquor law, was released on payment of 3.?5 costs. John H. Campbell vs. Wru. D. Campbell estáte, judgmont for plaintiff for $109.20; Wm. R. McGregor vs. A bram Matthfiws, decree grauted for oomplainant. The fcllowing plead not guilty: Jarnes Rideout, -charged with larceny ; Frank Armstrong, assault with iotent to do great bodily harm ; Basil Hutchinson, burglary ; Earl Nasb, burgiary; Charles Trempler, assault with intent to kill aud murder; Frank Fuller, larceny ; Anson Wright, violation of liquor law. Ti esday the jury was on haod and the following cases were disposedof: Earl Nash, charged with larceny, fonnd gnilty, and sentenced to tbree yeais' imprisonment at Jacksou; Charles Trempler entered plea of guilty of cutting with intent to kill, sentenced to imprisonment at Jacksou for two years; James Rideout plead guilty to simple larceuy and was sent to jail for 90 day s; Jacob Sohmidt, charged witb violation of liquor law, was ordered released ou payment of $15 fine. On Thursday George Browu, cdored, of Ypsilanti, charged with cummitting rape on his Kï-year-old step-daupnter, was sentenced to three years' conflnement in the state piisoa at Jackson. The case now on trial is that of The People vs. Basil Hutohinson, cbarged with bnrglary. He it is, that Night Watcbruan Drake identifies as the man who broke iuto J. H. Miller's store in Ypsilanti early in Januarv. Frank Armstrong, of Ypsilanti, ehargpd with assault with intent to do great bodily harm, was found guilty last eveuing and recommended to the mercy of tho court. He was sentenced to 15 months at Jackson prison.
