Fitzsimmons Is Now Champion

Robert Fitzsimmons defeated James J. Corbett at CarHon City, Nev., Wednesday, in the fight for the heavy weight pugilistio ohampionship of the world, and having doue so says he will retire írom the ring. The battle was the faste8t and one of the biggest that was ever fongbt in a prize ring. For flve ronnds Corbett pnnished his oppon ent terribly and then he began to weaken, whilst Fitzsimmons, on the oontrary, seemed to be growing stronger. In the fonrteenth ronnd Corbett tried to get in a left handed blow on Fitzsimmons' head. The latter did not attempt to defend nimself from it and swnng around with his right hand on Corbett's head staggering him. He followed it np with a wicked blow with his left nnder the heart and Corbett was licked.
