Mrs. Joseph Cady has returned from Detroit. Tom Joubston has rented Miss Bella Barr'sfarm. Harry Rose is reoovering from au attack of the mnrnps. Senator Campbell made his family a visit the first of the week. Airs. Barns, of Manistee, is the gnest of Mra. Chas. Clow. V. C. Nichols lost a valnable horse from congestión of tlie mnscles. D. Allison will work Mrs. Martha Crittendeu's farm this season. Miss Faye Crittenden, of Saline high school, spent her vacation at home. The Ladies' Aid Sooiety meeet the first Thursday in May with Mrs. Clow. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hntzel have been entertaining their niece, Miss Ida Bayer, of Tekonsha. Miss Bertha Moore has again resumed her duties iu school work in district No. 2 and 5, fractional. Miss Nellie Sherwood has accepted a position in the Thorne school for the spring term, which began last Mon day. Miss Kittie Campbell, of South Bend, Ind., is spending her vacation at home. She callea on the senator on her way home. Mrs. C. C. Sherwood thongbt it strauge that no one sent in an item to the Argns, in regard to her stove, so will here state use has a new range. Mr. Fred Slayton and Miss Josie Collar were married in Ann Arbor last Saturday. They have the best wishes of their many friends, in tneir fnture life. The Ladies' Aid Society met with Mrs Andrew Campbell the first Thursday in April. It being Apiri 1, several ladies received biscuit filled with cottou for tea. The Pittsfield Union Sunday school has organized with officers as follows: Superintendent, W. J. Canfield; assistant superintendent, H. Blaire; secretary, Miss Alice Begole; assistant secretary, Miss Delia Harwood ; treasurer, Arthur Sherwood ; assistant treasürer, Charles Roberts, jr. ; librarian, F. M. White; assistant librarian, Miss Minnie Bray. Charles Roberts lost his barn and contents by fire last Priday night. The family had retired, wheu seeing it lisrht in the room Mrs. Roberts observed the straw stack on fire, she iminediately made it known to Mr. Roberts, who rusbiDg out in his night attire and barefooted, managed to save a few horses and tbe buggies. The rest of the stock, consisting of an old horse, six head of eattle, 20 sbeep, 20 lambs, 5 hogs and a fine young team belonging to Frank Turner perished in the flames. Regardless of help, it was with difficulty that the house was saved.
