At the annual meeting of the departrnent of Michigan, G. A. R., held in Greenville last week, Col. A. T. Blies, .of Saginaw, was elected departrnent commander by acclarnmation, A. L. Patriok, of Detroit, withdrawing frora the contest. The other officersare: Senior vice commander, L. Wells Sprague, of Greenville; junior vioe commander, Ben Barker, of Reed City; medical director, Dr. J. R. Stephenson, Grand Rapids; department chaplain, Rev. Wm. Judd, Howard City; conncil of administration, E. H. Davis of Detroit, C. E. Foote of Kalamazoo, James Greene of Bay City, Frank Whipple of Port Huron, and Thomas Keyes of Ionia. Tbis was followed by the installation of offioers. Delegates were elected to the national encampment at Buffalo next August. Col. C. V. R. Pond was appointed by the departmeut commander assiatant adjutant and qaartermaster-general these two offices being cotnbined into one. It was then voted that tbe enoampment be held about tbe 5 tb. to 20th of June, iustead of in April. The next meeting is to be held at Port Huron. At the meeting of the W. R. C. held at the same place and time the following officers were elected : President, Mrs. Louise Turck, of Alma; for national president, Mrs. Agnes Hill, of Indianapolis, was tbe choice, and . Miss Turck, of Alma, treasurer. Delegates were elected to the national conventiou to be held in Buffalo in August and it was voted to iiold the uext meeting at Port HarĂ³n iu June, 1898.
