.St. Joseph, Mo., April 20. - Thomas Marshall, once a conductor on the Burington railroad, an inmate of the state lunatic asylum No. 2, cooked himself to death in a bathtub at that institution Monday night. While the patients were at supper he managed to elude his guards and escaped to one of the bathrooms. where he turned on the hot water, filling the tub, after whieh he plunged in, and was soon scalded to death. His body was thoroughly cooked. the flesh falling from the bones.
