The soldiers' monument for the vil lage of Chelsea, has been oompleted by Geoige W. Loughridge, of Ypsilanti, aDd wil] be set up at once. The total cost of the monument is in the ueighborhood of $1.300 and it isa beautiful pieoe of work in granite. The total height oE the mormmenl from the base to tbe top of the figure ie 18 feet. On tbe die of tbe monument, which is a square oue there appears on opposite sides tba insoriptions. "Erected nnder the auspices of the Womeu's Relief Corps, Ko. 210, assisted by R. P. Uarpeuter Post, No. 41," and "To the memory of onr uoble dead who freely gave their lives that Our Country's íiag rnigbt be maintained nnsullied." Ou tbe o.tber sides appear tbe G. Á. R. and W. R. C. badges. Above the die and resting on a cap piece is a six-foot figure of a soldier at purale rest. The mo.mueBt when set np, will be bosed up and remain so untü Memorial Day, May 30, wheu Chelsea wil] have a big celebration and the monument will beuuveiled.
