Tbe lítele hamlet of Birkett, five miles from Dexter village, was the scène of a traaio happening on Tuesday afternoon. Emil Staehler, a working man, his wife and tbree sons reside in the place, the boys being bis ohildren by a former wife. Mr. Staebler went away from home to werk on Tnesday, leaving the three boysto attend to soms work he had set for them to do. The yoangest of the boys, Ralph, agedseven 'ears, wbo is said to have been a bot jeaded, high spirited little fellow, ebelled against the work and got angry at something the others said or did to iim and left them starting off towards he river, at the same time saying, 'The nest time you see I'll be dead." When tbe father carne home abont 7 o'elock he was told by the other two joys of the cirenmstance and of the disappearance of his youngest boy. He at once said "He is in the river." Aocompanied by several of tbe young men of the neighborhood be at once began a search for the missing lad. By the aid of the fishing lanterns they carried the body of the little fellow was fonnd abont 9 p. m. three rods below the bridge in abont sis feet of water, with all the clothes on it. Life was extinot and the body must have been in the water seveal hours.
