Miss Ella Cashing, a daughter of JobD A. CnshiDg, of Webster, and who last year attended school at Dexter, committed suicide at the home of her aont Mrs. William Brookway, of Hambnrg, on Saturday, by taking morphine. Miss Cnshing had been visiting in Ann Arbor and went to Hamburg Saturday morning. She went to Jür.. Swartz and asked hiru how mnch morphine it would be necessary to take to pioduoe sleep. He told her and she went to her aunt's house, where she told the people that she was going to take a sleep and asked thern not to disturb her. A short time afterwards her aunt went iuto the room and found herlyiug upon the floor breathiug heavily and her face black. She at once sent for Dr. Swartz, who soon got the girl out of danger. She disolaimed having taken any drug, but sbe was left alone for a few rnoments, when she evidently took a large amonnt of morphine again. All efforts to revive her the secoud time proved futile and she died at 6 o'clock. A letter was found in her trunk addressed to a young man in Chelsea, another note to her aunt stating that they should give no reason for her tash act, but that ill health was the canse, and that heil in one place was as good as heil in another plaoe. Ste said : 'Send this note to Joe, that be may see I was true to him to the last." She was 18 years of age.
