Marshal Sweet received a letter ThnrBday nigbt of last week froro a man in Au Sable by the name of Charles W. Witter, who stated that his wife Bertha had left him July 17, taking with her their two years old daughter, and that the Bay City pólice had informed him that she had gone to Ann Arbor. He nrged the marshal to lócate his wife, who was a respectable woman as far as he knew, and declared that he was almost crazy abont her disappearanoe. Patrolman Armbrnster looated Mrs. Witter Friday moruing and she was taken to pólice headquarters where she was qnestioned olosely. She said that. her busbaud had been suspioious of her and by his oontinually stirring up trouble had made living with bim so nnpleasant that she could stand it no longer. Her husband had accused her of being too familiar with a dootor who was attending her, but his assertions she said were entirely grouudless. She said that she wonld not go back to live with Witter. The latter was wired to the effect that his wife had been found bnt replied saying that the marshal should do nothing bot send him her address. Mrs. Witter was advised to return home and her husband got sorne good wholesome advice in a letter that was sent to him.
