J. M. Barrie is more conscious of his limitations than are sorne of his fellow workers of the period. At the repeated solicitation of his journalist friends he conseuted some tirue ago to write the life of the late Alexander Russell of The Scotsman, bnt he immediately relinquished the task when he perceived that biographical writiug lay altogether outside his particular sphere of work.
