Wanted It For His Pigs
Sunday morniug Frank Hagen, of Ann A$jor town, and his brother-inlaw Fxed Haas were standing talking iu the road, wheu a rúan, wbom we will cali Michael, came along, driving in a bnggy towards the city to get, as he said, "some raedioine. " Shortly afterwards he retnrned and after he had gone some distance down the road he got out of the bnggy, went into a corn field belouging to the Hagen estate, and pruceeded to appropriate some of the ears of corn to bis own use. He bad got between 50 and 60 ears of corn in his buggy box when Frank Hagen and Fred Haas came along and caught hini. Mr. Haas collared Michael and took biin up to Jacob Hagen, who is the administrator of tbe estáte. Michael said he "Only wanted it for bis pigs, " but Mr. Hagen did nnt see it tbat way aud as Michael bas been at such tricka in years gonp by' he was given a reasonable titue in which to settle the matter by a money payment or stand trial for theft in a justice court. And, uuless he settles, the justice will get a job, for the boys are bound to punish him iu some way.
