On Thuisday evening, Sept. 30, Unity Club will open itsseason with au extra - not included in the conrse tioket. Tuis will be a ooncert by the artists forraing tbe Frauois Hughes Concert Cowpauy. The charaoter of tbe entertainment roay be well irnagined by a glance at the musicians forming the company. Miss Frances Hughes, daughter of David D. Hughes, of Grand Rapids, is beyond doubt the first lady harpist in the country. She has studied with the great Germán Harpist Sobnecker and with Hasselmanns of Paris. For three eeasons she bas been the chief attractioa of the celebrated "Schubert Male Quartet." Miss Appy is a daughter of the famous Dutch 'cellist, Ernest Appy, and is herself one of the greatest 'oellists in the world. Unquestiouably, she ia tbe fmest lady 'cellist living. This is her first appearance in Amerioa. Mr. Rawson-Wade, the Bnglish baritone, studied in London, becatne widely known in England as a concert and oratorio singer of the flrst rank, and carne to this oountry as solo bass with Archen the English organist. Subsequently be becarue baritone and musical direotor of the Schubert Qaartet. His voice is highly praised by thd English and American press as of wonderful power, richness and range. Miss Lester and Miss Van Frank are both artists who are beooming favorably known thornghout the United States. The former is a pupil of Root, the latter of Von Schiller. To all lovers of musio this will prove one of the most delightful entertainments ever given in Ann Arbor.
