One million and a half men work in the coal mines of the world. Of these Great Britain has 535,000; United States, 300,000; Germany, 285,000; Belgium, 100,000; Russia, 44,000. The world's miners of metal number 4,000,000. The Germán emperor's imperial train sost $830,000 and took three years to construct. There are altogether 12 cars, including two nursery carriages. The reception saloon contains several pieces of statuary, and each of the sleeping cars is fittedHvith a bath.
