On Thnrsday morning of last week Jobu Steele.proprietor of Denbel Bros.' feed mili at Scio village, met with a very serious accident aad a wonderful escape from deatb. He intended to visit the fair at Aun Arbor and weut to tbe mili at an unnsnally early hour to grind some feed, as he was somevvhat bebind with bis work. In attemptiug to pnt on a belt, whicb was a diffioult task for ona usan to nndertake, his coat canght in a set screw and he was quickly drawn to and wonnd aronnd the shaft. After makiug several revolutions bis limbs became entanlged in anotber belt which almost stopped the machinery for the time being. He tben gtasped the beam, wbich he says he had made several efforts to do before, with the oue arm that was liberated and firruly cliuging to it with a deathlike grasp he loudly called for help. Hiá cries were heard by O.ven Sloan a distance of about 60 rods, aud kuowing there was something wrong he dropped his mijkpail and ran to the mili where he fouud the unfrtnnaie man hardly able to speak. Mr. Sloan quickly spiung to the wheel and shnfc off the water, tben takiug his knife he ent the belt, aüd Mr. Steele:s coat and shirts and palled him out, finding bis legs and arms badly crushed aud brnised. Dr. Lee and son were immediately sumiiioued and they dressed his wouuds aud have every hope of giving Mr. Steele another whirl at the wheel.
