Mr. and Mrs. Alvin J. Pratt, of Webster, left home Satnrday inorning to go over to Cnristian Miller's in Soio, to see Mrs. Miller, who hae been a great friend to thern. Tbey had not been tbere long when they saw a heavy srnoke arising írom the direotion of their hotne. They were suspicious that it ruight be their honse as they had left tbeir fainily of young children there alone. Mr. Pratt drove back aud wien lie got home he found the house ia ñames. By tbe efEorts of the eider children all the little ones were in safety but all that was saved of the contents of the house was the sewing machine and half a dozen cups and sauceis. It is a great hardship for the Pratts as they are not in good circumstances. The house was owned by Mrs. Frank F. Warren and was insured in the Washtenaw Mutual. The Pratts had no insurance on their furniture. It is supposed the flre originated from the chirnney as Mrs. Pratt had had a hot fire on before leaving home.
