The Michigan Agricultura! College, at Lansing, is fast becorning recognized as the leading collfge of its kind in the country. For several yeats past it had had in attendance at school studeuts from leading cnuntries of the world, Tbe latest honor conferred npon it is that of being selected by the departiiipot of mines and agricnlture of New S'uitb Wales as the place to eend a representativo for a course of special traning in agricnlture. Last winter it was decided by the Secretary of Mines and Agricultnre in New South Wales, Sidney Sniith, to offer a two years' traveling scbolarship to be competed for among the students at the Hawkesbnry Agricoltnra] lege in that colony, with a view to sending the suocessfnl cornpetitor abroarl to gain wider and more varied experienca of the soience and practice of agricultura than wonld be possible in New South Wales, so that on his return to that country his services could be ntilized iu lecturing, and in other ways diffusing ataoug the agriculturists of that country the useful knowledge gained. The candidate elected was Joseph Arthur Bulkeley, wbo sailed from Sidney August 16, aud arrived at the M. A. C. Sept. 18. It is expeoted that Mr. Bulkeley will spend the vacations iu traveling throughout the Dnited States and Canada to faruiliarize himself with agricultura! methods. All of his expenses, both at college and while traveling, will be met by the department sending him here.
