New Orleans, Oct. 5. - The largest mcrning report of cases was chronicled Tuesday, when up to 10 o'clock six new cases of fever had been reported, four of them reaching the board of health in a bunch. At that hour, however, no deaths had been reported, though cooler weather Tuesday morning was not considered beneficial to those who are in bed. The increase in the number of aases causes no alarm, owing to the mild type of the latest cases. A large consignment Of chlorinated lime has been received and a depot has been established in each of the seven districts of the city for its gratuitous distribution. The city Tuesday, in some parts, Iocks as if it had been struck by a snowstorm, so widespread has been the use of lime on the streets and in the gutters. The excitement which prevailed among some classes, but was never general, has completely subsided. Less attenüon is being paid to the fever subject by the press and every effcrt is being made to get freight moving, though up to the present such efforts have met with indifferent success. Edwards, Miss., Oct. 5. - Dr. Dunn of the state board of health Tuesday gave out the following statement: Up to 10 a. m. only one new case has been reported. Mr. I. C. Wimberly died at about 6:40 Tuesday morning. The relief committee is still receiving donations from cities all ovev the country, ■whcse donations are appreciated. The expenses accompanying an epidemie are large, and, although the money is judiciously expended it is fast being exhausted.
