Mrs. Lauah DeMille, who was probably the oldest wutnan in the conuty, died Wednesday of last week, after a brief illness, at the family home in Saline, in the 97th year of her age. Her naaiden name was Lauah Root, and she was born in Aurelios, Caynga county, Ê. Y., May 23, 1801. She was married to Isaac Miller, Jnly 2, 1819, and had been weddpd 60 years when her husband died about 18 years ago. Mr. DeMille was twice drafted for the war of 1812, but got off each time. They lived in Eiohmond, N. Y., until 1854. when they moved to Saline. Mrs. DeMille had always been a heaithy and bright woman, and in her declining years had a clear and well developed ruemory. She had been a member of the Methodist churoh for 81 years. Mrs DeMille leaves one sod, who lives at Brent Creek, and a daugbter Mrs. P. E. Townsend, of Saline. Her grandohildren are: G. C. Townsend, dry goods rnerchant, Saline; Prof. C. O. Townsend, of Colnmbia College; Dr. Hngb Towusend. of Bnfl'alo, N. Y., and D. A. Townsend, of Saline. The funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon of last week and her remains were interred beeide those of her husband in Oakwood cernetery.
