A Tower Two Thousand Feet High
William J. Frye, au architect of New York city, hns drawn plans for a tower to comruemorate the cousolidation of Greater New York. The proposed tower i is to be 2,140 feet in keight, in all rej spects the most wonderful structrure in the world. The Eiffel tower iu Paris is 984 feet high, nearly lialf that of the proposed observatory tower for New York. The tower is to be twelve sided and built of steel. The lowest portion will be 300 feet in diameter and will be flanked by four pavilion buildings, giving the structure a base of 400 feet. The outer walls will be of cement and wirecloth. Internally the tower will be a labyriuth of steel columns, girders, beatas, plates and other shapes in steel, uo partiële of wood being used in constructiou or finish.
