The early part of the week members of the B. P. O. Elks in this city reoeived through the mails largeshipping tags, whioh bore this insciiption "Tie this on yonr coat and come to Chelsea Social session, Chelsea, Mich, Tbursday evening, November 4, 189?." Following out the snggestion thus made a party of the jolly fellows nnmbering in all 30 people under the leadership of Jas. R. Bach left Ann Arbor at 5:55 last evening. They were reinforced at Dester by other members and several from Jackson were alsc present. On arriving at Chelsea they were met by the Chelsea contingent headed by Supervisor Hiram Lighthall, and escorted by a band were marched to the town hall, where they disbanded and "browsed" aronnd at their own Eweet will until the town bell called tbem to the snpper table. After that had been fully discnssed cigars were passed aronnd aiid then nnder the chairmanship of Mr. Lighthall a social session was commenced which lasted nntil 1 a. m. Speeches aad songs followed each other in rapid succession, do one who was called on daring to refuse. PĆ³licemen Greene and MoNamara were faithful in the discharge of their important duties and kept plenty of arrests on hand to snpply the material. The Ann Arbor boys retnrned home on tbe early morning trains today.
