Miss Clara Clark, dangbter of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Clark, of Saline, had to have her right leg taken off at the hip on Thnrsday of last week at the University hospital iu order to save her life. Some time in March last she discovered a sinall bunch about two inohes above the knee on the inside of the thigh. Sbe thonght nothing of it at tbe tim9, bnt as time passed she notieed that tbis bauch was gradnally ealarging. Without pain or soreuess it oontiuud to grow uutil some weeks ago when she was taken to Aun Arbor where the hospital physioians pronounced it a very serions case. The X rays and varions other examiuations were made and it was finaily deoided that there was only one chance by which her life conld be saved, aud that was to perform the operation related above. At present Miss Clark is getting along a great deal better than was expected as she is naturally a girl of very frail pbysiqne.
