Bnsiness in tbs auditor generals's office has greatly increased this year. Dnringthe ruonthof Outoberjnst closed $85,000 passed thongh the state treasury from the auditor's office on account of thepnrohase and paymenfc of taxes. In October, 1896, the transaotions on this aocrmnt aggregated $15,000. On Nov. 1 last year the auditor general had a balanoe of $4,000 in the state treasnry. This year his balance is $127,000. In the state land office the receipts for Ootober were $8,186.20, as against $4,716.16 for October, 1896. The sales of Agrionltural College and school lands have noticeably increased , las month's reoeipts from the former hav ing been 191,900, and from the latter $6,500.
