Lansing, Mich., Nov. 9.- The official erop report says that the acreage condition of wheat in the state Nov. 1 was 82, comparison being with vitality and growth of average years. The condition in the southern counties, where 85 per cent. of the erop is grown, is 13 per cent. lower than one year ago. On fields favorably situated it is looking well, but a large proportion of the fields are more than ordinarily spotted. Recent rains have been of great immediate advantage, but heavy, soaking rains are yet needed to place the ground in he usually wet condition at the opening of winter. The estimates indícate that he area seeded to wheat this fall is 6 per cent. greater than sowed in the fall of 1896. The average yield of corn per acre in he state is estimated at sixty-one mshels of ears, equal to about thirty jushels of shelled corn. The area of lover seed harvested ig large, at least much larger than in any late year, andhe estimated average yield higher than ever yet reported in the farm statisics. The yield in the state is estimated at 1.92 bushels per acre. Potaoes are estimated to yield in the state 4 per cent. of an average erop.
