[ Monday afternoon Attorney C. Lin; coln McGuire was arrested and taken [ befoie Jnstiee Pond, charged by Enoch Sears with having obtained rnoney from his wife by iueans of false pratenses. McGuire denied the charge to Justice Pond and was remanded in charge of an officer nntil 9 o'olock the next day when the case carne np for hearing. Mr. Sears claims that two years ago Mr. McGuiie sold a lot in the uortbeast part of the city to Mr. and Mrs. B. F. j Geruw, taking in payment therefor a [proruissory note for $50 and a mortgage for $200. Afterwards the note was paid. Mr. McGuire oflered the mortgage to Mrs. Hanuah E. Sears, wife of the oomplainant, for $190, informing her that he had been paid $300 for the lot and that that was its value. This story was believed by the coruplainant and the mortaage was boughfr on the terms narued. Ou Tuesday mornign the case was adjourned until Satorday, Nov. 27. Mr. MoGnire claims that the whole proceedings are a coDspiracy on the part of soine other attorneys to ruin him in his practico. Subscribe for the Arsrus now.
