Menominee, Mich., Nov. 16. - The largcst mortgage ever recorded in the register's office has been put on file. It was that of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad company to the United States Trust company of New York and John A. Stewart, trustee, and is for $165,000,000. The mortgage was in the regular legal form and rnakes a pamphlet of elghty-three printed pages. The document was received early in the morning. The law requires it shall be recorded in every county in which the corporation owns property. The document was made out and certified to by Hnry D. Purrog, clerk of the city and county of New York and clerk of the supreme court of the state. The names of Marvin Hughitt, president, and M. T. Syker, secretary of the road, with G. H. Corey and William T. Grudson as witnesses, appear on the document. The parties of the second part are John A. Stewart, president of the United States Trust company. L.ioyd W. Bowers, general counsel of the railroad, drew up the document. It is effectual until 1987.
