Cali a special session of the Common Council to be held at the Council Chamber Monday, November 8th, 1897, at 7-30 p. m., to consider the report of the Street and Sidewalk Cpmmittees. Chas. E. Your Committee on Sidewalks would recommend that the grade of the sidewalk on the east side of Detroit between División and Depot streets, be changed and herewith submit the proper resolution fixing and establishing the same. Moore, Hamilton, Koch, Peil Sweet, Brown, Vandawarker, Rhodes, Spathelf, Danforth, Cady, Pres. Luick- 12. Nays- None. RESOLUTION. Whereas, in the opinión of the Council the grade of the sidewalk on the east side of Detroit St., ought to be changed aDd fixed. and established to the end that such street may be suitable for public travel. Therefore. Resolved, and it is hereby ordered that the grade of the sidewalk on and along the east side of Detroit Kt., f rom the east line of División St., to the south line of Depot St., be, and the same is hereby ehanged, fixed and established, so that the grade of said sidewalk on and along the street aforesaia shall be as follows, that is to say: At n. e. cor. División and Detroit St., 806 50 ft. At 20 ft. north of n. e. cor. División and Detroit St., 806.00 ft. At 40 ft. north of n. e. cor. División and Detroit St., 805.00 ft. At 60 ft. north of n. e. cor. División and Detroit St., 803.30 ft. At 101 ft. north of n. e. cor. División and Detroit St., 802 00 ft. At south line of Depot St., 787.00 ft. the elevation given being above the official city datum and along the center line of such walk, and the grade lines to consist of straight lines between the several points above stated. Adopted as follows : Yeas- A.ld. Moore, Hamilton, Koch, Dell, Sweet, Brown, Vandawarker, Rhodes, Spathelf, Danforth, Cady, Pres. Luick- 12. Nays - None. To the Common Council: Your Committee on Sidewalks recommend that the following sidewalks be repaired. On the southeast side of Detroit along old street car property. On the west side of S. lst, between Washington and Liberty. On the north side of E. Ann along Greene's hole. Also that a plank crosswalk be constructed on the south side of Washington across 3rd. And that the plank orosswalk on the south side of Washington across lst be repaired. Also plow out gutter on 3rd from Washington, south. Respectfully submitted, F. M. A petition signed by Cari Boehn and three others asking for a sidewalk on Fountain st. was read and referred to the Sidewalk Committee. A petition signed by Frank Komiek and 21 others asking for fllling a hole on Felch st. was read and referred to the Street Committee. A petition signed by C. A. Buehlow and h've others asking for a crosswalk on Felch across Miner was read and referred to the Sidewalk Committee. A petition signed by F. H. Belser asking for $225 for gravel alleged to have been taken trom a lot by the city was read and referred to the Street Comruittee and City Attorney. Brown moved that the report be accepted and that the Clerk be instructed to certify the same to the city Assessor. Adopted as follows: Yeas - Aid. Dell moved that the Street Commissioner be instructed to employ men to repair the detective sidewalks of the city. Aid. Hamilton moved as an amendment that the Street Commissioner be instructed to notify all persons having defective walks to repair the same. Adopted as follows: Yeas- Aid. Moore, Hamilton, Grossman, Koch, Sweet, Brown, Vandawarker, Rhodes, Spathelf, Soule, Danforth, Pres. Luick- 12. Nays- Aid. Dell. Aid. Koch stated to the Council that Rev. Fr. E. D. Kelly had extended an invitation to the Common Council to attend the Catholic Fair Tuesday evening, November 16th, 1897. Aid. fltown moved that the invitation be accepted. Adopted. On motion of Aid.
