J. Thomas had bis shoulder blade brokeu in a football practice Monday. The eleotric lights in University hall were turned on for the first time Thuisday afteiuooD of last week. Several of rhe co-eds met last Saturday and orgauized a debaters' club. Miss Bevena, a senior fronj Chioago, is at the head of the moveruent. The Southern Club held a meeting Saturday to arrange for a banquet and receptioii in honor of Rotit. L. Taylor, the Tennesse goveruor, who will leoture here ou Dec. 3. In a rough and tumble scrap in the main hall oce day last week a student lost one side of nis whiskers, which were eboro off slick and clean by sorae member of the "Wbiskers" Club, wbicb is becomiug quite notorious. The Cotnedy Club will give its annnal performance between semesters, when the students will be entertainiDg their friends invited to tbo junior hop. The profits of both organizations will be tnrned over to the Athletic Association. It is said to be quite probable that membersof the faculty will beasked to examine the accounts of the Students' Leoture Association. Muoh dissatisfaotion exista over the number of counterfeit tickets that were visible on the nigbt of the Nansen lecture. A nurnber of studente ara making reat preparations for a minstiel show whioh will be given enortly before the hristmas holidays. Several stndents ire wiiting songs, learniag dances and jetting up comió specialties, and a suoessful appearanoe is anticipated. Dr. Edwin Meade, of Boston, editor )f the New England Magazine, gave an nteresting lecture in Tappan hall Monlay evening before thp PhiJosophioal Sooiety His subjeot was "The study )f history." His talk was of a practi;al uatnre and qnotations from Emerson nd Carlyle were frequent. Freshmen laws are vowing veugeance )n the sophomores whom they suspect )f baving plaoed a quantity of "high:oned" chemicals in the law leoture rooms one day last week. The 300 ïreshmen had to inhale the noxious Eumes for over an hour greatly to their ïisgnst and corresponding anger. In the presenoe of the smallest crowd that has attended a game this season Michigan 's Reserves easily disposed of the Wittenberg College eleveu SaturiJay, by a score of 32 to 0. None of the regular 'Varsity players were in the line up, the coaohes not wishing to take any enancas of possible injuries. The Reserves put up a surprisingly stiong game and scored almost at will and at all times kept their own goal from danser. There will be uo trip tbis year for the Glee, iianjo and Mandolín Club, altbough it was propoeed by the administrative board of the club to take Prof. Stanley along as director. The faculty's adverse decisión not onlv forbids an extended trip but will not allow the clubs to go to Detroit or Ypsilanti, even. The clubs will keep rigbt on practicing for their home ooncerts, of which there will probably be two. Sometime during December a concert and hop will be given in the Waterman gymnasium, and the big concert will be given in the spring, as usual.
