-Mi-s. John Bell bad au accident the otber day which oame very near being serious. Eer son Ward was sick and she not feeling very well berself asked tbe doctor for some medicine. He gave ber some which she was to mix with water and take in small doses, bnt thinking that if a little was good all of it would onre at once she took tho whole ooneoction at one dose. Shortly afterward sbe was taken with severe cramps bnt by tbe help of good neighbors and medical skil, she is yet in the land of tbe living. On Thursday of last week we wer6 again reminded of the fact "that the old must die and the .yoong rnay." Charles Smith, aged 73, a mnch respected citizen, was taken from onr midst. He had been a great snfferer for many yeats, bnt bore his pain witb great patieuoe and, it seemed to be a great fear with him that he wonld make somebody lots of work. Mr. Smith carne from New York abont 50 years ago and settled in the sonthern part of this connty where by living an honest life he made many friends.
