Prof. George Hernpl has an aiticle on "The Tbree Year Undergraduate Period," in this montb's unmber of the Eduoatinnal Review. The annual freshmen spread, the big social event of the college year!for tbe oo-eds, will be given in the woruan's gymnasium tomorrow evening. Joseph .Tefferson, tbe great actor, will be given a reception in University hall next Tnesday morning. The facnlties of tbe several departments have agreed to suspend classes betwueen 11 and 12 o'clock so that tbe students can attend. Hon. Samuel M. Jones, the "reform mayor of Toledo," delivered tbe fourth of the series of addresses on present day problems at Newberry hall Tuesday evening. He said be was eleoted mayor "in spite of 600 saloons, the Street railway company and tbe deivl." Many writers have likened nis oareer to that of Qov. Pingree. Aƶout 400 students attended tbe "smoker" of tbe Anti-Knocker Club at the Light Gaard Infautry armory Saturday p.veniDg, to show tneir loyalty to their alma mater and ita athletic teams. The"Dutoh lunch" was beartily relished and from the frequeucy of tbe U. of M. yell and tbe bursis of cbeering it is presumed the speeches were as good as the lunch.
