I ■wnndprel Icnsly as a clond That floats on high o'er vales and hüiñ, "Whun all at once I saw a erowd, A host of golden dafíodils, Beside the lake, beneafb the trees, Fluttering nnd dancing in the breeze. Contimious as the stars that shine And twinkle on the milky way They stretchcd in never ending lino Along tlie margin of a bay. Ten thousand suw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly danco. The waves beside them danced, but they Outdid the sparlding waves in gleo. A poet eould not bttt be gay In sneh a jocund oompany. I gazed and gazed, bnt little thtmght Whatwealth that show to me had brought. For often when on aiy couch I lie In vaoíuit or in pensive mor They flash upon that inward eye Whieh is the bliss of solitude, And then my hoart with pleasure fllla And dances with the daffodils.
