Very Sudden Death
Waltec S. Hioks, for many years a wel! known resident of Ana Arbor, bnt who has been a resident of Detroit for three years past, died very suddenly of heart disease or apoplexy in that oity on Tnesday afternoon. He was sitting in the correspondence rooru of the Hotel (Jadillao writing a letter when he snddenly expired. Besides is wife Mr, Hioks leaves three chilren, Henry Ward Hioks, an attorney t Monette, Wis., Ralph M., who is in he retreat at Dearborn, and Miss gima, who lived at borne. Two other daughters Alice and Mary are deceased. Mr. Bicks was bom in Ontario connty, N. Y., Sept. 26, 1834. After reaohing roanhood he was for 13 years on thé board of exchange in New York city. In 1873 he carne to Battie Cree'k and later to Ann Arbor, on accoant of its edooational advantages. He was interested in the manufacture of hop bitters, the laboratorios being at Rochester, N. Y., and Dayton, O. Politically he was a democrat and took quite a lively interest in politics.
