Dr. Shaw's Roast
Dr. Thomas Sbaw, of Ypsilauti, who in corapany with Dr. Scbmidt, of Cbelsea, perforined a post rnortem exarnination on tbe body of Qeorge Beokwith, wbo was drowned in the Htiron river on the nigbt of August 17 has put in ciroulation a 36-page pampblet d ing his position at tbe iuqnest; and roasting the coroner, Dr. E. A. Clatk, the sheriff and other connty offlcers. Iu the book he gives a description of Beokwith's wonuds and reiterates his claim tbat Beckwith was mnrdered and then tbrown into the river. He also roakes a new point of evideuce and says that one mark on Beokwith's cheek %vas produced by a manu Eaotnred instrument like a sandbag,and by a blow delivered while the victirn lay face downward on the gronnd. The doctor says be performed the postmortem and attended the inqaest and subsequent examinations,pul;ting iu altogetber eigbt days for which be sabmitted to the county board of supervisors a bilĂ for $60. The board cut the bill to f 18 and so allowed it.
