The cbaacery case of the city of Ann Arbor vs Sewer Contraotor Heory Collins, bis bondsmen, the National Surety Co., the Farmers & Mechanica 3ank aud nnuierons olaimants for material fumiehed in oonstruoting the Hill st. and Harón sts. sewers, has been on trial in tbe circuit conrt all this week. Tbe city wants to know which of the nnmerous credicors of Mr. , lins is entitled to the balance dne on the contract, amounting to something over $3,200. Colilns' debts amonnt to betweeD $10,000 and $11,000, of which the Farmers & Mechanica Bank claims f3,300 f er money advanced. Collins has aJso put in two bilis against the city, one for $2,500 for extra work perforroed. The city engineer recommends thö payrnent of $1,100 of this. Then the city olaims $1,400 rebate on contract price of work alleged left undone. Collins' second olaim is for $5,591 fur pntting in honse branches in the Ibird district. This claim the city refuses to pay in whole or part. The case is beiug botly contestad and many finfl Jegal points are being bronght ont in it.
