The Goorkha, with his catlike lacuity for taking cover, aided by his sinall size and his sleuthhound persistence in follo-wiug an evasive foe, bas always teen an annoyance to the stalwart Pathan. On one occasion two Goorkha scouts were told off to drive away two Afhans who, from a neighboring sumtnit, were "sniping" at a passing column. Tbe column reached its camp after midnight, and vrhen roll was called the two Goorkhas were missing. Their comrades ïnourued theni for a íew hours, but at daybreak the two turned up, very tired, very hungry and very thirsty, but radiaut. "We got them both," they said.
