Liquid food should nover bo given in winter. Use the best and straightest oomb for feeding. Seleot your best stocks from which to raise queens. Be sure that every colony bas an abundaĆ¼ce of food. A good quality of oandy may often be fed with profit. Feed it at night. Wax is a natural secretion of the bee. It is not gathered by the bees, as many suppose. Drones can be retained alniost any length of time by keeping them ia queenless colonias. Wax can be produced at any time by simply feeding a colony heavily on honey or sugar sirup. A worker bee is hatched in 31 days from the time the egg is deposited, queens in 16 and drones in 24 days. A few pounds of oandy made from granulated sugar can be placed on the top of the frames over the bees. Queen cells should be built in strong oolonies. It is no trouble to keep them if eupplied with bees and brood. The average life of a worker bee Is 45 days. A queen will live four or flve years. The life of a drone is out short by the worker bees.
